Moisture barrier
AIR-SHIELD self-adhering air/vapor and liquid moisture barrier is part of a total W. R. Meadows system to complete the building envelope. It is a roll-type product that is nominally 40 millimeters thick. The membrane's controlled thickness is fabricated from cross-laminated polyethylene bonded to specially modified asphalt. This unique, self-adhesive membrane, protected by a special release paper, is strong and durable. It remains flexible when surface mounted and will adhere to most primed surfaces at minimum temperatures of 40° F. AIR-SHIELD self-adhering air/vapor and liquid moisture barrier is designed for a variety of uses. Primary applications include cavity wall and masonry wall construction.

Anchors
CONNECT-EZ has announced the launch of two new products – CONNECT-EZ Panel Anchor, "PA" and the CONNECT-EZ "V". In response to the ACI 318 code requiring a pair of 10,000 pound tension connections for tilt-up and precast concrete wall panels to the building foundation, the CONNECT-EZ "PA" provides an efficient, cost effective solution. This mechanical connection, usually positioned inside the building, provides contractors ready access for drilling and installation of the anchor bolt and eliminates expensive exterior patching. Developed in response to requests from steel erectors and concrete contractors, the CONNECT-EZ "V" provides a secure mechanical connection for erection of structural steel to concrete without the expense and uncertainty of field welding. The interlocking chamber and bearing seat engage remotely, eliminating the need to manually connect the steel to the concrete.

Concrete reinforcement
Dramix steel fibers can be used replace shrinkage and temperature reinforcement in concrete footings, slabs on ground and other structural plain concrete elements. The steel fiber recently received ICC-ES certification for use in concrete footings, slabs on ground, and other elements designed according to ACI 318 Chapter 22. Dramix is a successful alternative for traditional steel mesh and bar reinforcement and can be applied in a wide range of construction applications, including industrial floors, precast elements, tunneling and mining, residential applications and public works.

Connectors
Simpson Strong-Tie has expanded its product offering for cold-formed steel applications by developing a new line of connectors for use with curtain-wall, steel-stud framing. The Simpson Strong-Tie pre-engineered connectors accommodate many different bypass framing applications in stand-offs as large as 11-1/4 inches. In addition, the new line includes connectors for head-of-wall and strut applications. All of the standard slide clips accommodate one inch of both upward and downward movement, equivalent to an L/360 live-load deflection for a 30-foot span. For deflections greater than one inch, or stand-offs greater than 11-1/4 inches, Simpson Strong-Tie can provide custom clips to suit most framing needs.

New approvals
Fasteners
ICC-ES ESR-3275 was recently published and includes data for the .102, .120 and .145 diameter Trak-IT C5 fasteners for use in normal-weight concrete, lightweight concrete, concrete over steel deck, concrete masonry units (CMUs) and several grades of steel. These pins have been designed for use with a new Powers Trak-IT C5 tool, and their holding capacities have been evaluated in accordance with the ICC-ES Acceptance Criteria for Fasteners Power-driven into Concrete, Steel, and Masonry Elements (AC70).
