KPFF Consulting Engineers is pleased to announce the promotion of Craig J. Totten, P.E., S.E., to principal in the structural engineering group of its Portland, Ore., office. Totten has 15 years of professional experience in all aspects of structural engineering, with materials-design expertise in cast-in-place concrete, prestressed concrete, post-tensioned concrete, steel, timber, and masonry. His passion for significant projects has led him to work on some of the most complex efforts of the KPFF office.
Studio NYL Structural Engineers is pleased to announce that Ted Godfrey, P.E., joined its team as a project engineer. Godfrey received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Colorado State University. He brings to the team nine years of engineering experience that includes multi-family residential, high-end custom homes, and commercial structures.
O’Donnell & Naccarato, a structural engineering firm headquartered in Philadelphia, has appointed Ihor Bojcun, P.E., to manage its Princeton, N.J., office. Bojcun’s more than 25 years of experience prior to O’Donnell & Naccarato involved working with a firm that specialized in new and renovated structures for many corporate clients throughout the United States and abroad, including projects for the United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases in Fort Detrick, Md. There, Bojcun helped to design laboratories that contain hazardous materials being developed to combat threats from biological weapons such as anthrax. Educated at Pennsylvania State University, Bojcun holds a bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering, and is fluent in Ukrainian and conversant in Russian, Polish, and German.
Ahmad Nadeem, P.E., has been promoted to vice president at Philadelphia-based Urban Engineers, Inc. Nadeem, who joined Urban in 2000, serves as manager of the firm’s marine engineering practice. He has 17 years of experience in the management, design, and engineering of marine, bulk material handling, heavy industrial, and building projects. He is a graduate of Louisiana State University with master’s degrees in civil engineering and engineering science.
He invented a new method to calculate wind loads on open-framed structures that was adopted by the American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE) and published in the ASCE guide, Wind Loads and Anchor Bolt design for Petrochemical Facilities. He also invented a new method to repair the front row piles and strengthen existing docks and has authored several publications in the field of wind engineering. Urban Engineers, Inc., established in 1960, provides planning, design, and construction management services for buildings, transit, railroads, bridges, highways, airports, ports, and building systems, as well as environmental consulting.
Cary Kopczynski & Company (CKC), a Bellevue-Wash., based structural engineering firm, has announced the addition of Tanveer Sahoo, P.E., P. Eng., and Satish Jain, P.E., as senior design engineers; Andy Tu, Jae-Wook Park, Jason Thome, and Matt Hopper as design engineers; and Alan Tolmasoff as a CAD designer. CKC provides structural engineering services for buildings and parking structures throughout the United States.
Bridge engineering and construction consultant Finley Engineering Group (FEG) has added senior bridge engineers Craig Allen, P.E., and Jerry Pfuntner, P.E., to its growing staff of bridge industry specialists. Allen and Pfuntner rejoin FEG founder Craig Finley, who they worked with previously as members of Finley McNary Engineers and the Parsons Corporation.
With more than 15 years of national and international experience, Allen has filled several different roles on a broad range of bridge types, sizes, and locations. Allen earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees at Witwatersrand University in South Africa. He is a member of the American Segmental Bridge Institute, the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering, and the South African Institution of Civil Engineers.
Prior to joining FEG, Pfuntner was with the Florida Department of Transportation, where he served as the area structures engineer in Districts 1 and 6. Pfuntner earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and his master’s of engineering degree from the University of Florida. He is a member of ASBI and the Florida Engineering Society, which named him Young Engineer of the Year in 1999.
