PDF software with flash support

Adobe Systems, Inc., introduced Adobe Acrobat 9 software, a significant upgrade for creating and sharing electronic documents. Acrobat 9 delivers native support for Adobe Flash technology, the ability to unify a wide range of content in rich PDF Portfolios, and access to real-time capabilities for co-navigating a PDF document with colleagues. For the first time, Acrobat 9 provides deep support for Adobe Flash technology, enabling users to include Flash Player-compatible video and application files in PDF documents. Acrobat 9 also includes the ability to unify a wide range of content into a single document with the new concept of PDF Portfolios. The new release provides access to capabilities for collaborating live within a PDF document. Additionally, Acrobat 9 users may access Acrobat.com for storing and sharing files, may use it as a central location for collecting data as part of a forms process, and may gather comments in a shared document review.

Affordable, secure data backup

The Datto Backup Appliance provides a complete on-site data backup and a secure reliable off-site backup at a price affordable for small and medium size businesses. Datto devices are compatible with most operating systems. Because the task of compressing and transferring data off-site is handled by each Datto device, the computers that are being backed up are never tied up or slowed down by uploads. The patent-pending design requires no changes to existing firewalls. Datto devices are monitored 24/7 and updates are applied automatically, keeping the device secure and up to date. Datto can have all critical data restored and delivered to a company’s location in less than 24 hours. In addition, technicians continuously monitor the status and security of each Datto device, ensuring that critical data is safe and secure at all times.

Automatic deformation monitoring software

Leica GeoMoS Version 4.0 combines geodetic and geotechnical deformation data into a single resource for instant analysis. Leica GeoMoS Version 4.0, automatic deformation monitoring software, now features the ability to gather, store, and analyze geotechnical data recorded through a Campbell Scientific datalogger. Geotechnical data is now integrated seamlessly with geodetic data in a single database for advanced deformation analysis. Now, non-georeferenced displacement data can supplement measurements made by Leica’s total stations and GPS instruments. This sensor combination results in greater understanding of structure movements and improves failure prediction. The new virtual sensor feature allows users to model the output of one or more sensors using constants, mathematical functions, or logic operators. This is ideal for calibration of measurements or computation of parameters of interest, such as convergences or torsions, or to analyze traditional measurement data and results.

Anchoring system

Powers Fasteners, Inc., introduced a stronger, two-component, high-strength structural adhesive anchoring system to meet the new and more stringent International Building Code for strength design of concrete anchors. The newly formulated AC100+Gold adhesive system can be used to bond threaded rod and reinforcing bar into solid concrete and masonry base materials and can also be used to anchor into hollow masonry materials using screen tubes. The AC100+Gold system is a low-odor formulation that is free of styrene and volatile organic compounds. It is packaged in specially designed cartridges made from engineered plastic and is dispensed with either a manual or powered dispensing tool. The adhesive is fast curing, has superior dispensing speed, and is ideal for cold and moderate weather applications. It works well in damp/wet holes and does not contain methyl-methacrylate.

Moment frames

Simpson Strong-Tie introduced the Strong Frame ordinary moment frame that helps to avoid the need for wider site-built walls and engineered solutions. The Strong Frame moment frame is pre-designed and manufactured indoors, taking the leg work out of the design process and reducing installation time on job sites. They are available in a variety of sizes up to 19 feet tall and 16 feet wide and ship in a flat box containing three pieces and a box of bolts. The moment frames have 100-percent bolted connections requiring only a standard socket or spud wrench, pre-installed wood nailers to save time, full anchorage solutions with one-size-fits-all templates to locate preassembled anchor bolts, and epoxy and Titen HD post-installed anchorage solutions for prescriptive design applications.
