Changes to the seismic provisions

The seismic provisions of the 2005 edition of the ASCE Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures will be dramatically different in format and organization than those found in the current edition.

The seismic provisions of the 2005 edition of the American Society of Civil Engineers’ (ASCE) Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures (ASCE 7-05) will be dramatically different in format and organization than those found in the current edition, ASCE 7-02. In addition, the seismic provisions of ASCE 7-05 will include seve ral significant technical changes. This article will first explain the format and organizational changes followed by a description of the significant technical changes.
