Thornton Tomasetti, the 500-person, international engineering and design firm specializing in long-span sports structures and engineering the world’s tallest buildings, has promoted Narinder Chhabra, P.E., to the role of a principal in the New York City office. A professional engineer with more than three decades of structural engineering and design experience, Chhabra specializes in healthcare, mixed-use, and telecommunications projects both nationally and internationally and is also responsible for developing and maintaining client relationships.
Chhabra joined Thornton Tomasetti’s New York office in 1969 and later rejoined the firm in 1984. He has since contributed to the analysis, design, and review of commercial, mixed-use, and long-span structures built in steel, concrete, and masonry. Chhabra’s responsibilities include all phases of design from schematic through construction administration.
Chhabra earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Ranchi, India’s Birla Engineering College and his master’s degree in structural engineering from Polytechnic Institute of New York. He currently resides in Marlboro, N.J.
Cary Kopczynski & Company, a Bellevue, Wash.-based structural engineering firm, has announced that Ron Mirahsani, P.E., S.E., and Joe Ferzli, P.E., S.E., have been promoted to the position of senior associate.
