Jaster-Quintanilla (JQ), a consulting engineering firm based in Austin, Texas, offering structural and civil engineering, recently announced the opening of its fourth location in Houston-other offices are in San Antonio and Dallas. Gabriel Garza, P.E., and Anthony McLain, P.E., both formerly with Walter P. Moore, lead the Houston office and have been named Associates with the firm. Tom Scott, P.E., and Chris Story, P.E., of the Dallas office; Justice Edge, P.E., of the San Antonio office; and Scott Francis, P.E., of the Austin office, also were named Associates of the firm.

Ruby and Associates, a structural engineering firm based in Farmington Hills, Mich., announced the addition of five new professionals. David Whirret is the firms new manager of Business Development, located in South Carolina. He is responsible for building the firms presence on the East Coast and in the southern region of the country and managing new accounts with steel fabricators and erectors. David Watt, P.E., is a new assistant project engineer, responsible for structural design from schematics through construction administration. Todd Lackey, E.I.T., David Walenga, E.I.T., and Andrew Twarek also recently joined the Ruby team as staff engineers.
