Social media is one of the key ways people use the Internet in their daily lives, and it is creeping into the professional AEC world as well. CE News magazine explored this topic in their February 2010 Business Strategies article — read it at cenews.com/archive under the second link, “Online social media.” CE News also surveyed civil engineering firms and found that 51 percent of the firms surveyed are using LinkedIn for social networking, 50 percent are using Facebook, and 20 percent are using Twitter to promote their business.

Which social media platforms are you or your firm using? What do you love, hate, fear, or admire about social media as a professional tool? Send your thoughts to Associate Editor Tara Richards at trichards@stagnitomedia.com. Let us know what we can do to help you find timely AEC industry information, grow your business, and network with social media.
