Structural detailing

MultiSUITE Software announced that all MultiSUITE structural products are now available for AutoCAD 2007. The improved features of AutoCAD 2007 include an enhanced user interface, improved annotation capability, and introduction of dynamic blocks. Both the MultiSTEEL and MultiREBAR products automate creation of intelligent drawing objects for steel and reinforced concrete bar information. According to the company, drawings are produced to a highly professional standard, and information from the drawings can be presented as user-defined reports and schedules. With AutoCAD 2007, users can manipulate blocks, add text, carry out complex calculations within the application, and set parameters for drawings in real-time via the on-screen graphics cursor. These features, the company says, give users more flexibility and control to enhance the performance of the structural drawing tools offered by MultiSUITE. MultiSUITE products can be used as stand-alone on a single PC or fully networked via the MultiSUITE Network Licence Manager.

Analysis and design suite upgraded

Robobat introduced version 20 of its ROBOT Office software suite, which includes modular and interoperable programs for simulating, calculating, and designing structures. Robobat says its software has been used by engineers worldwide for large-scale projects such as the French national stadium and the South Shanghai railway station. ROBOT Office 20 includes several programs with enhanced content and performance, including Robobat’s flagship structural engineering analysis and design program, ROBOT Millennium V20.1. The suite provides dynamic exchange of data between programs and integration with industry standard BIM solutions. According to the company, design firms can use ROBOT Office 20 to leverage the benefits of integration and to optimize design time and limit multiple data input throughout a project.

Partnership integrates design programs

StructureWorks, LLC, finalized a partnership agreement for design-software integration with LEAP Software, Inc. Terms of the agreement include integration of LEAP Software’s PRESTO and AXSYS applications with StructureWorks Precast. PRESTO is a program for analyzing and designing prestressed or mildly reinforced concrete beams; AXSYS is a program for analyzing and designing reinforced, precast/prestressed multistory columns and wall panels. Interoperability between the PRESTO and AXSYS programs and StructureWorks’ 3-D automated, parametric, modeling and design software application will be introduced to the engineering and design communities with the release of StructureWorks Precast 2008, scheduled for release in October/November 2007. Built on the SolidWorks 3-D mechanical design platform, StructureWorks Precast synchronizes and automates all drawing types, bills of material, and engineering content.
