2009 Fazlur R. Khan Lecture Series at Lehigh University 

Bethlehem, Pa.—Dan M. Frangopol, the first holder of the Fazlur R. Khan Endowed Chair in Structural Engineering and Architecture at Lehigh University, is the initiator and organizer of the Khan Lecture Series honoring Dr. Fazlur R. Khan’s legacy of excellence in structural engineering and architecture.

The 2009 Khan Lecture Series is as follows:

  • 1st Lecture: Leslie E. Robertson, Leslie E. Robertson Associates, R.L.L.P., New York, "The architect and the structural engineer—Partners in Design," Feb. 20;
  • 2nd Lecture: William F. Baker, Partner, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, Chicago and London, "Engineering the world’s tallest: Burj Dubai," March 20; and
  • 3rd Lecture: Bruce R. Ellingwood, Distinguished Professor and Raymond Allen Jones Chair, CEE, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, "Abnormal loads and progressive collapse—Assessment and mitigation of risk," April 17.
