AIA names Baker Barrios Architects Firm of the Year

ORLANDO, FLA. — Baker Barrios Architects Inc. has been named “Architecture Firm of the Year,” the highest honor bestowed by the Central Florida Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

“What makes this award distinctive is that it recognizes the collaborative efforts of our entire team and celebrates the culture that we’ve built over the past 19 years,” said Tim Baker, Principal of Baker Barrios Architects.

The jury commended the minority-owned firm’s emphasis on sustainable architecture, commitment to community service, and extensive completion of high-profile projects that have transformed the Orlando skyline, adding that “Baker Barrios has climbed a tall mountain.”

Additionally, the iconic Amway Center was the recipient of an “Honor Award,” recognizing one of Orlando’s best new works of architecture. Amway Center — the result of a shared vision between the city of Orlando, Orange County, the Orlando Magic, and local businesses — was brought to life by design architect Populous and associate architects Baker Barrios Architects and C.T. Hsu + Associates.
