Apex Companies expands into Texas region with acquisition of TITAN Engineering

ROCKVILLE, MD – Today, Apex Companies, LLC, a leading national water resources and environmental services consulting and engineering firm, announced the acquisition of TITAN Engineering, Inc. TITAN is a privately held environmental and engineering services firm headquartered in Dallas, with offices throughout Texas. Apex is a portfolio company of Tailwind Capital, a private equity firm focused on investing in growth oriented-middle market companies. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring these two organizations together," said Peter Young, Chairman of Apex. "TITAN, through its network of offices and array of talented managers and staff, provides Apex a meaningful presence throughout Texas allowing Apex to better serve its customers in that region. Additionally, TITAN has a blue chip customer base in the telecommunications, petrochemical and energy sectors which we expect will benefit from Apex's network of offices outside of Texas."

"Becoming part of the Apex team enables us to offer our clients high quality environmental and engineering services across a broader geographic network," said Doug Canter, a Principal of TITAN. "We've always been impressed with Apex and anticipate a seamless integration based on our similar core strengths and company cultures."

Jeffrey Calhoun, Managing Director of Tailwind, said, "We are extremely pleased to have completed the transaction with TITAN. When we partnered with management to acquire Apex, we believed there would be tremendous opportunities to acquire firms with high quality, entrepreneurial management teams, customers in attractive end markets and a complementary geographic network. TITAN provides all three."

Financing for the transaction was provided by Madison Capital, NewStar Financial and Churchill Financial.
