SEATTLE — Buckland & Taylor Ltd. has announced the opening of its U.S. office in Seattle’s Queen Anne district.

The Seattle office has recently started work on the $100 million design-build Milton Madison Bridge project spanning between Milton, Kentucky and Madison, Indiana.

Using a method called “truss sliding,” a new 3,181-foot-long truss will be moved along steel rails and plates and will “slide” into place atop the existing piers, which will be rehabilitated. The “truss sliding” method was successfully used recently on another Buckland & Taylor project in North Vancouver, Capilano Bridge.

The Seattle office will be led by Buckland & Taylor’s Director, U.S. Practice, Scott Roux. With 15 years of technical structural engineering experience, he has worked on a wide range of international infrastructure projects.

Roux earned his Bachelor’s and Master's degrees from the University of British Columbia, and an MBA from the University of Iowa. He is a licensed Structural Engineer in Hawaii, as well as a licensed Professional Engineer in Washington State, British Columbia and Alberta.

New hires in the Seattle office include two senior bridge engineers, Greg Griffin and Alan Cukurs, three junior bridge engineers, Brandon McGinnis, Aaron Pettis and Emily Roche, and a marketing and business development coordinator, Melissa Philpott.
