CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – D. C. Taylor Co. is pleased to announce that its Meridian Vineyards project was recognized by the Center for Environmental Innovation in Roofing (Center) as the winner of the 2011 RoofPoint™ Excellence in Design Award for Excellence in Materials Management.

The 2011 RoofPoint Excellence in Design Award recognizes the best in design and installation of long?lasting, energy efficient, environmentally friendly roof systems. Annual award winners are selected from projects that best exemplify the mission and meet the criteria of RoofPoint. The Paso Robles, CA, Meridian Vineyards project received the award for demonstrating the best application of RoofPoint Material Management Credits M1 through M4, including material recycling, project waste management, and the use of environmentally preferable construction materials.

The skilled professionals at D. C. Taylor Co. were responsible for planning, coordination, and supervision of the wine estate’s roof restoration and 1.25 MW solar generation project. Careful not to interrupt operations at the vineyard during the approaching harvest season, D. C. Taylor Co. restored an existing 20-plus year old metal roof with a high-performance elastomeric coating and supervised the installation of more than 5,000 roof-mounted solar panels. Through a comprehensive waste management program, D. C. Taylor Co. was able to keep total construction demolition waste for the project to less than 15 percent.
