Donations, volunteers for Haiti relief urged by ASCE 

RESTON, VA. — The American Society of Civil Engineers expresses its sorrow over the magnitude of loss and suffering caused by the January 12 earthquake in Haiti. The organisation indicated that they stand ready to contribute its technical expertise, and pledges its support for relief efforts in Haiti. ASCE urged its members and partners, to join them in supporting the relief efforts organized the American Red Cross. ASCE also encourages its members to consider volunteering to help at the scene, especially if you are a structural engineer or if you speak French or Creole.

Details on how you can help:

  • Send $10 to the American Red Cross relief effort immediately by texting "Haiti" to 90999 from your cell phone. The donation will appear on your cell phone bill. Or donate via the American Red Cross website.
  • Help at the scene -- enroll in the ASCE Disaster Assistance Volunteer Directory to match your skills with disaster relief efforts. Urgently needed are structural engineers or any engineer who speaks French or Creole; please specify such skills when enrolling.
