Engineering firm Buro Happold North America wins ACEC New York awards 

NEW YORK — The American Council of Engineering Companies of New York (ACEC New York) honored Buro Happold North America with four awards for engineering excellence in the categories of Structural Systems; Special Projects; Building/Technology Systems; and Studies, Research, and Consulting.

Buro Happold received two Diamond Awards for Excellence in Structural Systems for the Curtis R. Priem Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., and in Special Projects for the Expanding Video Screen for U2’s 360° Tour of 2009.

In the Building/Technology Systems category, Buro Happold received a Platinum Award for acting as sustainability consultants on the Hawaii Preparatory Academy’s Energy Lab in Kamuela.

Buro Happold received a Gold Award in Research and Consulting for its Lynn University Master Plan in Boca Raton, Fla. Buro Happold created energy and carbon analyses of existing facilities to study future infrastructure changes that would improve performance and reduce cost.
