Epoxy-coated rebar specifications available

Produced by the Epoxy Interest Group (EIG) of the Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute (CRSI) of Schaumburg, Ill., this new document highlights ASTM Specifications for coating, fabricating, and field handling of all epoxy-coated rebar.

There are three specification charts. The first, Highlights of Standard Epoxy Coating Specifications, includes information about materials used, certifications, material treatment, application, and the necessary steps to properly repair and store epoxy-coated rebar. The second chart, Guidelines for Fabrication Practices, is a quick overview of the ASTM Specification for Fabrication and Jobsite Handling. It contains information about all the manufacturing steps from fabrication and handling through final repair.

The third chart, Guidelines for Field Handling, outlines procedures in various ASTM specifications with information about applicability, handling, storage, bar supports, bar placement, concrete placement, and repairs.

Produced as an overview to ASTM specifications; more detailed information is available in the CRSI Epoxy Coating Plant Certification Manual and the complete ASTM Specifications.
