ESAB helps build new World Trade Center towers

LONDON – For over three years ESAB has partnered with DCM Erectors and the MRP LLC fabrication shop on the new World Trade Center Towers in New York.

The main tower of the site, Tower 1, will stand at 107 stories – 562m tall (1,776 ft) – on completion in 2011. Construction is currently underway, and as of May had already reached the 15th floor and consumed more than 45,400kg of ESAB Coreshield 8 flux-cored wire.

The 20th floor will feature all full-penetration welds using Coreshield 8 and it is estimated that this floor alone will require 9,080kg of material.

ESAB is providing filler metals for Tower 1 and Tower 4, which will stand at 65 stories. The company’s complete line of Seismic CertifiedTM products are ideal for construction of buildings of this nature and the seismic testing done on these products was instrumental in ESAB securing the bid.

“ESAB is very proud to have been selected to provide materials for this important part of American history,” says Jerry Gleisner, Vice President, Sales Eastern USA for ESAB.

ESAB is working closely with Airgas of Piscataway, NJ to stock and distribute all the ESAB filler metals required for this prestigious contract.

With over 100 years of experience, a presence in over 80 countries and more than 8,000 employees worldwide, ESAB is the world’s most recognised brand in welding and cutting.
