SGH engineer named ACI Fellow

WALTHAM, MASS. –  The American Concrete Institute (ACI) recently named Dominic Kelly an ACI Fellow for his contributions to the society over the last 12 years. Kelly is an associate principal at national engineering firm Simpson Gumpertz & Heger Inc. (SGH).

According to ACI’s website, the society bestows the distinction of Fellow upon those who have made outstanding contributions to the production or use of concrete materials, products, and structures in the areas of education, research, development, design, construction, or management as well as contributions to ACI through committees and/or local chapters.

Since 2002, Kelly has actively participated on the ACI Committee 318 Structural Concrete Building Code. ACI 318 covers the materials, design, and construction of structural concrete used in buildings and, where applicable, in nonbuilding structures. The code also covers the strength evaluation of existing concrete structures. Kelly helped develop the 2005 and 2008 versions of the ACI 318’s publication “Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete and Commentary.” He has also been an ACI faculty member since 2003.
