The ACI Spring 2009 Convention themed ‘Infrastructure – Concrete practice and placement’

Farmington Hills, Mich.—The American Concrete Institute’s (ACI) Spring 2009 Convention will be held in San Antonio, Texas, at the Marriott Rivercenter, March 15-19. Since the first convention held in 1905, ACI Conventions have been dedicated to improving the design, construction, maintenance, and repair of concrete structures by offering more than 300 committee meetings, 30 technical and educational sessions, opportunities to network with attendees and exhibitors, and the ability provide input on concrete industry codes, specifications, and guides. The ACI Spring 2009 Convention will bring together engineers, architects, contractors, educators, manufacturers, and material representatives from all over the world—all dedicated to put forth the best use of concrete.

In addition, this spring’s convention will feature a CMC Steel Texas technical tour, a "Night in Old San Antonio" themed Concrete Mixer, a Student FRP Composites Competition, daily sessions on sustainability, and a full day dedicated to local contractors. Additionally, a book drive will be held during the convention in an effort to fight adolescent illiteracy. ACI attendees are encouraged to bring new or gently used children’s books K-12 to the convention. Donated books will go to the San Antonio Youth Literacy Council.

Convention attendees who register by Feb. 15, 2009, will receive reduced registration rates. In addition, the Marriott Rivercenter is offering convention attendees a special rate for rooms reserved prior to Feb. 20, based on availability.
