Wight & Company adds structural building engineering to its portfolio  

DARIEN, ILL. — Wight & Company has expanded its engineering group to include structural building engineering. The company also announced that Matthew J. Aquino, P.E., SE, will be the director of its structural engineering practice.

Aquino, will lead the growth of the new department, which will enable Wight & Company to further broaden its portfolio of client-focused integrated services for public and private projects throughout Illinois and the Midwest. He will also participate in the company’s transportation practice.

According to Mark Wight, chairman and chief executive officer of Wight & Company, “Matthew is a talented professional with a unique combination of technical expertise, refined aesthetic sensibility and collaborative team-building skills. His leadership will accelerate the growth of our structural engineering services group.”

In a career that has spanned more than 15 years, Aquino has developed expertise in the design, analysis, project coordination and project delivery of structural systems. He is well-versed in sustainable design, and his responsibilities have included project engineering design and management for education, laboratory, residential, municipal and corporate facilities in the Chicago metropolitan area.
